An old story; freelancer goes in from the cold
In yet another lamentable departure from magazine writing, Philip Preville, Toronto Life's politics reporter has left the freelance life for a full-time job. He starts tomorrow as director of public affairs for the Toronto Board of Trade. Its gain is the magazine business's loss, as evidenced by his (last) excellent cover article (

Though, it's the same story all around. I think out of the 50 people I went to j-school with, one works full-time at a weekly paper and two us work crappy part-time jobs while freelancing.
Everyone else went PR, government or went back to school for something else entirely.
meanwhile, that's the first halfway decent Toronto Life cover in ages!
