Swerve named western magazine of the year at Western Magazine Awards

This post is a bit late acknowledging the winners of the Western Magazine Awards, announced on Friday in Vancouver. Swerve magazine  of Calgary was the standout winner, named Western Canada magazine of the year, as well as magazine of the year for NWT/Alberta and winning  a gold award for best article, five written awards and one visual award. • Trade magazine of the year was Enterprise (it has won the award 7 times in a row)
• Best new magazine was Sandbox Magazine (Winnipeg)
• Regional magazines of the year:  for BC/Yukon, Mountain Life; for Saskatchewan, Blackflash; for Manitoba, Canada's History

As announced in advance, the lifetime achievement award was presented to photographer Alex Waterhouse-Hayward.
